Airbus Freighter Conversion GmbH (AFC) was founded in 2007 as a shareholder interface to the customer and responsible partner for coordination of the A320/321 passenger-to-freighter (P2F) conversion programme, marketing and sales, customer contracts and the delivery of the converted Airbus A320/A321. 

Airbus Freighter Conversion is an EADS EFW, Airbus, UAC and Irkut joint company, headquartered in Dresden, Germany. The Russian share of the joint venture corresponds to 50% and is divided between UAC (25%) and Irkut (25%). The other 50% are divided between EADS EFW (32%) and Airbus (18%). EADS EFW and Irkut are responsible for the P2F detailed design. Airbus is responsible for non-specific design, design validation, final certification of the conversion solution. 

After ramping up the conversion line at EFW’s facility in Dresden, Germany, a second conversion line will be established in Ulyanovsk, on the aviation-related facilities of Ulyanovsk-Vostochny International Airport, Russia.
