Satellite navigation has already been available to all of us for so long that we take it for granted every day. Through satellite navigation, a flight can reach its destination, we can find our way around in a new city and trade markets can be synchronized all around the globe.

However, not all benefits of satellite navigation can be ported indoors, where the power received from satellites is very low (take any building above ground) or non-existent (that's the case of underground parking spaces, mines, tunnels e.g.). In this sort of environments, further challenges appear and alternative technologies need to be relied upon to provide the navigation service with even higher accuracy.

Aufgaben

In this frame, you will be in charge of:

  • Design, implement and validate all elements (transmitter, channel and navigation receiver) of an adequate software simulator in Matlab and/or C/C++ to demonstrate the operation of a 5G-based location system
  • Study the potential synergies of a 5G-based location system and the current radio navigation ecosystem (GPS, Galileo, Glonass).

These activities can be used in partial satisfaction of the requirements for the relevant university degree.

Qualifikation

You offer:

  • Enrolled student (m/f) within Mathematics, Engineering / Simulation, Modeling, Engineering / Telecom, Networks or similar field of study
  • Experience within Satellite Navigation as well as Mobile Communication are necessary
  • Good MS-Office skills are required
  • Experience with Matlab and/or C/C++
  • English: advanced
  • German: basic skills

You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently.
